VI Mind |
Version: 1.0 Submitted Date: 2007/12/22 |
Description:
VI Mind is a direct demonstration of the Quantum Flux Engine (QFE) in action. The QFE is the randomness generator that powers most of the software here, and in VI Mind it is tuned so that even changes in the electromagnetic environment around your computer can be detected. Graphically it is MC Escher inspired (with a bit of GC history thrown in), and is basically a chrome ball that rolls around on a marble floor. The movement of the ball is in response to the QFE running, so if you change things like the position of your hands next to the computer, you can see slight deflections in the path. VI Mind will work differently on different computers; it could work well or not at all on yours. I’ve set it up as a game - there is a hole at one corner of the courtyard and you can time how long it takes you to direct the sphere to it. It’s just for fun, and I think its sort of mesmerizing to watch. Like all QFlux programs there is a demo and a registered mode, the difference here being your camera position and best time is saved. Since so many people have waited a long time for a new VI project release, I’ve decided to set it up so that if you have registered just about any VI program ever, your reg code should work with VIMind. So if you’ve registered something before, thanks, and I hope you enjoy the program. If you haven’t and would like a registered copy of VI Mind, just register some other program and use the code. Two important notes: 1) You have to have the very latest version of DirectX9c installed. If you have installed a new game like Crysis or COD4, you should be OK, but if not download DirectX from here first. 2) VI Mind (and all QFlux software) will NOT run under Vista. Nor will they probably ever run under Vista. The QFE installs a driver at run time, which is not allowed in Vista (unless you pay for it to be tested and certified). Until there is a hack for this, or until Vista goes the way of Windows ME, this will not change.
